Kestutis Jankauskas: "EU-Azerbaijan talks on new agreement underway"

"Gender equality and women's rights are one of the main priorities of the European Union. We pay special attention to gender issues in all the projects we implement in Azerbaijan," said head of the EU Delegation to Azerbaijan Kestutis Jankauskas at an event dedicated to the International Women's Day.

K.Jankauskas has recalled the "Maiden Tower. To be a woman" project implemented by the EU in Azerbaijan last year and highlighted that this project also drew attention to women's rights.

He also spoke about the relations between Azerbaijan and the European Union: "This year, there are two main issues in our relations: cooperation within the Eastern Partnership and the negotiations on a new agreement with the Azerbaijani government."

The Ambassador also emphasized the necessity of Azerbaijan's joining Istanbul Convention and said that the EU is ready to support Azerbaijan on this issue.
